How do you feel about the new e-passport system in Sri Lanka?
The Immigration and Emigration Department of Sri Lanka has announced the introduction of a new, efficient, and secure e-passport for Sri Lankans, effective January 1, 2025. This initiative aims to simplify the application process and ensure a smoother experience for passport applicants.
From July 16, 2024, all passport applications will require prior registration via the official website. Starting from July 19, applicants registered on July 16 will be given priority based on their assigned date and time. The current application method will be valid only until July 18, 2024. Walk-in applications without a pre-assigned date and time will no longer be possible.
