Sri Lanka's Future in AI: A Game-Changer for the Economy?

President Ranil Wickremesinghe recently emphasized the critical need for Sri Lanka to embrace modern technologies, particularly Artificial Intelligence (AI), to achieve future social and economic goals. Starting next year, a nationwide AI initiative aims to integrate AI across all sectors within five years, with universities playing a key role in this transformation.

The President highlighted that advancing in AI is crucial for transitioning from an import-dependent to an export-oriented economy. He also mentioned the establishment of a Digital Transformation Agency and a National AI Centre to drive this progress.
