Sri Lanka's Reserves Hit $5.6 Billion: A Positive Trend

Sri Lanka's Gross Official Reserves reached $5.6 billion at the end of June 2024, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL). This is an increase from $5.41 billion in May 2024. The June figures include around $1.4 billion from a swap with the People's Bank of China, though this amount has some usage conditions.

Compared to the $4.4 billion reserves in June 2023, this is a significant improvement. Additionally, the Sri Lankan rupee has shown intermittent volatility but has appreciated over 6.5% against the US dollar in 2024.
