Suraksha Student Insurance Coverage Recommences

The Suraksha Student Insurance Coverage program has been relaunched for three years, starting today, announced Minister of Education Susil Premajayantha. This program covers students in government, private, Piriven, and special schools.

The insurance provides:

  1. Rs. 300,000 for inpatient treatments
  2. Rs. 20,000 for outpatient treatments
  3. Up to Rs. 1,500,000 for critical illnesses
  4. Rs. 200,000 for permanent disability
  5. Rs. 150,000 for permanent partial disability
  6. Rs. 25,000 to Rs. 100,000 for temporary disability
  7. Additionally, life insurance benefits include Rs. 75,000 for students from low-income families and up to Rs. 225,000 in case of death in the family. The program has been digitized, and students will receive a free insurance card.

The government has invested Rs. 7,112 million in this program, with the contract awarded to Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation for Rs. 6.027 billion (excluding VAT) for 2024-2027.
